While the spotlight is often on Kate Middleton and her royal tots, the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton, is stepping out of the shadows with her own headlines thanks to her upcoming wedding to hedge fund manager James Matthew.
The nuptial is set to be one of the most high-profile ceremonies this year and is already abuzz with rumours on every minute detail involved. Although the low-key couple has managed to keep most of these speculations at bay, we’ve dug through to give you the low-down on everything you need to know about the big day.
The Guest List
It will undoubtedly be a long and highly coveted guest list, but the focus on everyone’s mind doesn’t escape Prince Harry’s latest love interest Meghan Markle. After months of speculation to whether the Canadian actress will be invited, Markle has confirmed that she will be attending the evening reception and not the church ceremony. Protocols prohibit unengaged or unmarried couples from attending – or so they say. At least she is not on the wedding black list like some reality TV star.
Date and Venue
The date is locked for May 20 for Middleton to walk down the aisle at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire. According to sources, the soon-to-be-bride chose the location due to its privacy and proximity to her parents’ home where the reception will be held. The younger Middleton is said to be more of a traditionalist and prefer to get married close to home.
Fun fact: The Middleton’s family home, Bucklebury Manor, is a Grade II-listed historical residence.
While Middleton acted as the maid of honour for her sister’s wedding, it’s said that the Duchess will unlikely be a bridesmaid. However, Prince George could possibly play the role of the page boy or ringbearer, while his sister, Princess Charlotte, will be one of the bridesmaids.
The Engagement Bling
There is still no news on the jeweller behind the stunning engagement ring, but experts have estimated the stone to cost around $263,000 from its size and cut. Matthews popped the question last July during the lucky couple’s romantic getaway.
