The Thai Polo Open is a major global tournament born from the devotion of Harald Link, president of the Thailand Equestrian Federation and president of the Southeast Asian Equestrian Federation. “The Thailand Equestrian Federation was established in 1998 by equestrian enthusiasts, myself included. The federation’s vision is to make riding attractive and affordable. We aim to attract 100,000 riders within the next 20 years,” says Link. “We can achieve this through very close cooperation between riders, parents, clubs and the federation, exchanging and creating ideas and following up wherever possible. We have people in charge of all riding disciplines, each concentrating on making their discipline more attractive to riders.”

The crown jewel of the Thailand Equestrian Federation is the Thai Polo Open, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. The tournament has welcomed the world’s best players and royalty. This noble game has grown to be a local favourite and an international affair that is always eagerly anticipated. Over the last decade, the Thai Polo Open has established itself as a prestigious competition and firmly made its mark in the world of this highly engaging sport.

“The Thai Polo Open is a major tournament and charity event organised by the federation that represents the close cooperation and good intentions of equestrian aficionados to give something back to Thai society. This annual charity sport event is always a special occasion where all parties concerned get together to do good for society. I am confident that the Thai Polo Open 2017, to be held on Januray 14, will bring excitement and happiness to all as usual,” Link concludes.

The Thai Polo Open 2017 is on January 14, 2017 from 12pm - 9pm at Thai Polo Club Pattaya. For more information, visit or call 02-651-4081/5. You can also RSVP at
